Description
Most school boards approve a comprehensive plan, but few are shown how to actually use it as a governance and accountability tool.
This interactive, on-demand SBMA microcredential helps Virginia school board members learn how to use their divisionwide comprehensive plan to set priorities, evaluate progress, align budgets, and strengthen superintendent oversight.
Participants will work directly with their own board-adopted plan to:
• Identify legally required elements
• Evaluate goals and measurements
• Connect planning to budgeting and board priorities
• Strengthen accountability without micromanaging
Designed specifically for school board members, this hands-on training focuses on practical application — not theory — and can be completed anytime at your own pace.
Free for school board members throughout the month of May.
To fully participate, members should have a digital or printed copy of their current comprehensive plan available during the training.
