SBMA Governance Training Sponsorship

SBMA has seen clear evidence that accessibility drives engagement. Within one month of offering three free, 30-minute governance micro-credentials, nearly 50 percent of SBMA members participated. Board members consistently share that training is most effective when it is concise, practical, and easy to fit into demanding schedules. SBMA’s micro-credentials are 30-minute, board-ready governance trainings created specifically for elected school board members. Their focused design leads to higher completion rates and immediate application to real governance decisions. SBMA’s mission is to ensure school board members are equipped to represent their communities, prioritize academic achievement, maintain fiscally responsible budgets, and protect parental rights. To keep these trainings free for members, SBMA is seeking course sponsors. Sponsorship Opportunity: $1,500 per micro-credential (annual) Sponsors are recognized at the beginning and end of each course and acknowledged for making free, high-quality governance training possible, with ongoing visibility for the life of the course. Current sponsorship opportunities include courses focused on governance fundamentals, legal compliance, budget oversight, superintendent evaluation, and the core legal authority of Virginia school boards. By sponsoring a micro-credential, supporters are investing in stronger governance, reduced risk, and greater public trust across Virginia’s school divisions. Once a sponsorship is secured, sponsors will receive a list of available courses open for sponsorship.
